Continuing Watercolor (March/April) - Sertoma

I did a few small goache areas to show how to adjust a painting with gouache when needed.

This is our quilt practice piece.  I have superimposed a magnolia on top using  white gouache and  green watercolor mixed with the white gouache to paint the flower and leaves.  I thin the gouache with water and allow the background to show through in some areas (and sometimes the color underneath mixes with the gouache).

The rooster painting started with masking on the white areas.  I have added the dark for his body  adding color as well as allowing some of the color underneath to show through.  I added a warm red to his head area as well.
