Thursday Morning Class

Acrylic tomato value study.  This was done on paper from an acrylic pad.  I mixed a grey and used water to lighten the acrylic.  It can also be done mixing a grey and using white to lighten as needed.  Concentrate o n the values - the lights and darks.

Watercolor tomato value study.  This was done on 140 lb. cold press paper.  I mixed a grey with the 'yuck' on my palette and added some other colors until it was a pleasing grey.  I used water to lighten the grey as needed.  I also sprayed some to add some texture to make it interesting.  Concentrate on the values - the lights and darks.

Thursday Morning Class

Acrylic car - I started painting sections of the car.  I mixed colors (a wet mixture) and painted in each area allowing the background to show through.

Watercolor car - I cleaned up the edges with a scrubber and started painting in section of the car.  I wet each area first and dropped the color into the area.

Thursday Morning Class

Watercolor painting of the truck.  I transferred the drawing onto the paper, wet  all the background spaces, and dropped the paint into the background.  I used cobalt for the sky and a combination of greens (sap and some mixed greens) as well as some lemon yellow and permanent alizarin.

Acrylic painting of the truck.  I painted the background using blue for the sky (I lifted out clouds with a paper towel) and some greens, yellow, and some red in the grass and trees.  After it was dry (well mostly dry...) I transferred the drawing onto the painting.

GCWS Workshop

This is the woman on Yupo from the workshop.  I have worked on her some more lifting and adding color and detail.

Continuing Watercolor (March/April) - Sertoma

This is the gouache magnolia we painted over the quilt watercolor practice piece.  I worked on it quite a bit adding color, detail and more values as needed.

Continuing Watercolor (January/February) - Sertoma

This is the chicken we started in class (long ago).  I had some time and  worked on it some.  I added quite a bit of color and detail.

Tuesday Morning Class

This is the watercolor chicken over the rubber cement resist.  I started to add more detail with white gouache .  I added a little color over the gouache in the grass area.  It needs more color still.  There are a few areas I would like to add detail and I need to unify the new gouache grass with the background area.

This is the yupo rooster after I did a 'redo' of parts of the background (added color and then crinkled the plastic bag on top until dry).  I am happier with this one.  Actually, I plan to do only a little more and call it complete.
