Continuing Watercolor (November and December 2014)

I worked on him more adding detail and some dark values as well as highlights (with gouache).  He might be done...

I worked on this more adding details and some values where needed.  It might be done...

BAL Class (August 2014)

I have worked on this more, adding details and adjusting values.  It might be done...

Continuing Watercolor (January and February 2015)

I have added some hair texture.  It needs a bit more on the lower part of the body.  I will do a little tweaking, but it is very close to complete.

I have added the gold handle? on the lid.  I wet it, added a gold color and let it dry.  Then I came in with a shadow.  Since I did not keep the highlight area white I used gouache.  I have more work to do, especially at the top of the painting and on the cloth at the bottom. bit it is coming along.

I have started another pear.  I have also worked on some of the leaves.  This one has a little work left.

I worked on the trees, attaching them to the ground and adding shadows.  I wet the white tree, and dropped in color on the shadow side.  I used dark brown, red brown, and green.  I lifted some highlights into the rocks.  I sponged the foreground area.  I made the back area into water.  I need to work on the trees of course.  There are some parts that bother me that I will work on (between the two water areas and the shapes of the water, the island, the foreground - these areas bother me)

Continuing Watercolor (January and February 2015)

I worked a little on the background (did a few glazes) and worked on adding some of the leaves.
I worked quite a bit on this adding darks, textures, and color.  It's time to take off the masking.

I have removed the masking.

BAL Mixed Media (January and February 2015)

I worked some on the pears and on the leaves.  It has of course more to go.  In discussing the leaves we talked about how in a shadowed area it helps to gradate the shadow or have areas of lighter value within the shadow, even if in the picture it shows it as a solid dark.  It makes it more interesting and works better for the piece.  I also added some red to the greens.

I added more texture to the hat, worked a little with white on the collar and front of the shirt, worked on the beard blending it into the face, and I worked on the highlights and shadows of the face.  This photo has a glare on the shadow under the hat.  If I can get a better photo I will re post it.  Mixed medias are some of my more difficult pieces to photograph.

This is the piece that started as an ink wash (india ink, water, and a brush).  I then worked on the pen & ink (black and white pens), and then I tinted it with watercolor.  Once I get all the 'wet' media done I might work with colored pencil on top if it is needed (it might not be needed).
