Art & Ale Colored Pencil September 2018

Colored pencil on watercolor paper with an under drawing done with pencil and solvent (we're using rubbing alcohol as the solvent).  There are two ways to use the pencil and solvent.  One is to apply the colored pencil to the paper and use the rubbing alcohol and a paint brush or Q-tip to smear the pencil.  The second way is to use a small strainer, put something to catch the shavings of the pencil underneath (I use jar lids). Rub the pencil in the strainer and then add alcohol to the pencil shavings and swirl it with a brush.  Paint it in the area you want to add the pencil.  It looks a bit like watercolor.  I used grass green, yellow chartreuse and peacock blue on the leaves so far.  I used pomegranate and scarlet lake on the buds so far.  I used yellow chartreuse, a little grass green and terra cotta on the greenish part of the buds so far.  I used yellow chartreuse and terra cotta on the middle stem so far.  Remember this is the under drawing.
